The Port of Everett and Snohomish Running Co. are partnering to bring a new running event to Snohomish County, just in time for the holidays.

The Port of Everett’s inaugural Holiday on the Bay 5K will take place Sunday, Dec. 3, extending the community fun of the Port’s annual Holiday on the Bay festival held the first Saturday in December.

“We are thrilled to embark on this exciting new chapter of our long-standing partnership with the Port of Everett,” Snohomish Running Company President Grant Harrington said. “We’re excited to bring the first wintertime run to the picturesque waterfront. The unique charm and beauty of this venue, combined with our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences, promises to make this event an unforgettable winter adventure for all.”

The chip-timed 5K run/walk will start and finish at the Port’s Pacific Rim Plaza in Waterfront Place near Hotel Indigo (1028 13th Street, Everett, WA 98201). Rain or shine, participants will enjoy a flat route with sweeping views of the Port of Everett Marina, Port Gardner Bay, and the Olympic Mountains.

Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome to sign up for the event. Registration is now open at www.portofeverett.com/holidayonthebay5k, and includes a race shirt and finisher medal for each participant. Sign up by Nov. 10 for early-bird pricing.

This new event marks the third Waterfront Place-based run event produced by Snohomish Running Co. They also host two annual events at Waterfront Place in the spring, including the Snohomish Women’s Run and the Mill Town Marathon (formerly Everett Half).

“Adding a holiday run option to our winter lineup offers yet another element of fun and builds on our efforts to establish a robust shoulder season to promote community activation at the waterfront year-round,” said Catherine Soper, Communications & Marketing Director for the Port. “No matter when you visit, Waterfront Place has a little something for everyone. We encourage you to visit us this winter season!”

The Holiday on the Bay 5K follows a full day of family-fun taking place at Waterfront Place on Saturday, Dec. 2, as part of the Port’s 16th annual Holiday on the Bay festival. The event features a pop-up holiday market, free kids’ activities, from winter crafts, face painting and balloon creations to s’mores roasting, touch-a-truck, character meet-and-greets and more. The annual waterfront tree-lighting ceremony, a visit from Santa and the lighted boat parade will conclude the evening. Click here to view full lineup
